Our attention has been drawn to a publication being shared on social media, especially facebook by one Ikeh Chibuzor alleging that our antimalarial brand GRUTHA FORT soft gel capsule is fake and caused adverse drug reaction in a patient.
We hereby categorically debunk such allegation and state that it is  false, malicious and defamatory with an intent to deceive and mislead the unsuspecting members of the public.
GRUTHA FORT is a brand of artemether/lumefantrine (80mg/480mg) used in treating acute uncomplicated malarial infection especially that caused by the plasmodium falciparum parasite. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of combination therapies for the treatment of malaria. GRUTHA FORT is a combination antimalarial product in line with WHO recommendation. Grutha forte has been in use in Nigeria for more than six years without any reported case of adverse drug reaction. GRUTHA FORT is registered by NAFDAC. It’s NAFDAC  registration number is A4-4892.
The public is hereby warned to desist from spreading this false news as it is an act of malicious falsehood and could result in criminal prosecution if caught.
Anybody with any evidence of adverse drug reaction  regarding the use of any drug should report to a pharmacist, a medical doctor or to NAFDAC.
We enjoin the public to disregard this false allegation and continue using GRUTHA FORT to treat malaria as it is safe, efficacious and cost-effective.
For the avoidance of doubt, please see the clarification by the acting Director General of NAFDAC below.
